My car won't turn over or crank with key

Asked by Technicalmoneybags00... Apr 28, 2017 at 08:09 PM about the 1990 Ford Festiva L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 1990 ford festiva, I just
replaced the battery and removed all the
corrosion from the positive battery cable,
so every thing is getting power, wen I push
the clutch down and turn the key it sounds
like its in a bind, or sometimes it will click.
My lights come on on the dash and radio
blows, radio works, also, after I try to start
it and it does nothing, there's a loud
whirring sound coming from this box
mounted to the frame by the battery
closest to the grill

Sounds like the battery cables need to be replaced if they where full of corrosion. The corrosion will go under the insulation and damage the wire. Also make sure the battery is fully charged. You may want to have it checked.
