Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Before transmission had stopped.I had
service engine light come on and go off .I
would while moving on highway shut off
engine to reset. The service engine light
appears to be the speed sensor in failure .I
was told with answered question to check
pressure .I discovered no fluid circulating.
And answer to question was the fluid pump
located inside the transition. Now a woman
who is owner of a shop suggested that the
speed sensor be replaced .I believe that is
the reason for service engine . IF it is dead
and not sending any information does it
control the fluid pump and stop it from
pumping.?  Prior to transmission failure
was very sluggish and would not go into
passing gear. .

The speed sensor will tell trans when to shift.has nothing to do with the pump.
