The biggest cause for new transmission inoperative is when installing the torque converter it was not engaged with the front pump properly, you should hear a double clunk as you rotate and push in the converter into position, when this happens it usually breaks the front pump gear and then no pressure. I only did this once but I got in a hurry and didn't double check the install had to pull it back out replace the front pump, thankful it didn't leave any metal fragments to clean up.

If the front converter does not pop in the bell housing is ualuslly diffcult to install but not always ,check and make sure you have the correct fluid level.. and make sure your shift cable is adjusted correctly
