Is check engine on? Check for leaking injectors. If you have some injectors that are leaking into the cylinders. Bad injectors will constantly drip fuel into the engine. Some of the raw fuel heads into your crankcase and your exhaust system which can damage the cat.converter. Also check your exhaust flow. If your catalytic converter is failing it will cause enough back pressure to make the engine struggle and burn more fuel.

could also be fuel pressure regulator. check for unburned fuel at the evap canister.

Look for a bad spot, like maybe rust, on all fuel lines on top of the gas tank.

Does your truck have a bit of a rough idle to it? You might want to check your oxygen sensor. I was having a similar issue with my truck, but of a rough idle, heavy gas smell from exhaust, and really bad gas mileage (not that this engine gets good gas mileage to begin with). I I went down the list first, then changed my O2 sensor. It changed right away. Been running great ever since.

I changed my plugs and wires and air filter also changed oil pump and pressure switch and oil and filter. Also changed plug wires and distributor cap along with air sensor and throttle control and I still have rough engine idle ever since I changed the power steering pump the other day my gas milage as went down hill fast I’m searching for the same issue. Also changed 02 sensors and still can’t find out what the issue is
