Electrical issues...?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Two questions for my '03 Dodge Grand Caravan:

[1] Cruise control sometimes stops working while cruising... Car just starts slowing
down and the 'cruise' sign turns off. Cannot re-enable the cruise without turning the
power off.

[2] As of this week, the lights of my car sometimes won't turn off. Turn the switch from
right (lights on), to middle (only lights on the corner are on) to left ('off') but the corner
lights remain on (as well as the illumination of the dash). After turning knob a few times,
the car seems to get it and the lights turn off. But then when I lock the car (hit the
remote) the lights come on again (including the dash illumination). Had my neighbor at
the door last night because the lights were on again. Luckily in time before the battery
ran out.

Any ideas?

Possibly light relay going bad or bad light switch itself. Try swapping the relay first. You should have a couple just like it in your fuse panel. If that does not help I would look into testing the light switch. As far as the cruise shutting down I would check the brake pedal switch first.

If light switch is in steering column like your cruise control you might have a clock spring issue in the steering column causing both issues.

The light switch is to the side of the steering column, so I doubt the clockspring has anything to do with it. See pic.
