Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchase a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan, it has a 3.3L engine. It is my first Dodge and I just want to know
where my temperature gauge should be at.. Right now it is right under the half mark. Is that normal or should it be
lower. Thanks

It would normaly read right in the middle if it gets hot check if you have enough antifreeze in the radiator. (Caution dont open the radiator Cap while your motor is hot)

normally cars will run right in the middle, or maybe a little above or below. depending on the weather conditions, and how much antifreeze is in it.

Outside temperature has no bearing on control over what gauge is reading, Internal temperature and its components work in conjunction as a sending unit and gauge only reads, what is taking place internally, Manufacture engineering will always indicate "half way" normal, anything above bears on stress on engine or if one of the components is not in one accord to the manufacture guidelines or design. with all due respect to opinions "of all of the above"

I have a code reader and also gives the actual temperature from the computer. 2013 Caravan, just changed the thermostat and needle is at just slightly below half and computer says it gets to 95-96 degrees C then drops to 88-89 C from the thermostat opening and closing. Hope this helps, I should have done a test prior to change of thermostat
