gas tank not registering

I have a 2002 dodge caravan and I had the fuel pump replaced.  Now the gas gage doesn't register below 1/2 tank.  It floats around or stays on empty when it's not.

Either there is a bad connection at the fuel pump connector or the float was bent when the fuel pump was installed.
