92 ranger manual tranny

I was in my 1992 ford ranger pulling a hill on
interstate and all of a sudden it made a loud
pop amd a little smoke came from around
gearshift after i stopped i tryed to put it in
gear and all gears was nothing little bit of
grinding will not move any ideas and also
anyone know what all trannys fit that truck

Check the transmission lubricant for bits of metal. Also check the rear differential.
