05 PT Cruiser overheating

Asked by Ryan9880 Feb 08, 2017 at 02:17 PM about the 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The resiviour was bone dry this morning so i added
antifreeze to the resiviour. However, its not going
and circulating like its supposed to. The gauge says
that the temp is climbing slowly when idle. Then the
fan goes on to high speed. Trying to figure this out
before i take it to a shop

Did you use a pre-mix antifreeze or just straight antifreeze? Straight antifreeze will cavitate around the water pump and not flow properly. A mixture of antifreeze and water has the proper viscosity to be pumped through your engine. If you used straight anit-freeze, try adding the same amount of water and see what happens.
