Mite of cracked the block

Best bet would be to do a pressure check on the cooling system to see if there is a leak. Is there any steam or smoke from the exhaust system? If so, you could have a blown head gasket or crack in head or block.

And 1 other thought... are you sure the thermostat was installed properly? if it is backwards, it would not allow the antifreeze to flow and the engine will overheat.
