Why would my car be dieing while sitting at a light?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1994 crysler le baron. I was sitting in line at a stop sign waiting my turn and all of a sudden my car just died. I put it in park and it started up but it wouldn't stay started. I put it in nuetral and started it but i had to keep my foot on the break and also rev up the engine. I worked 8 hours and when I left to go home, it was fine no issues. What do you think might be going out on it?. I have already replaced the transmission so I know that isn't it.

Test the battery's voltage to see if it needs a new battery. If the battery is good then it could be the alternator.
