The bearings in the turbo charger are oil cooled. It's a good practice to let the motor idle before shutting it off. That allows the oil to cool the bearings. If the engine is shut off without idling, the oil could exceed the temperature rating and break down. Is the mechanic saying the consumption is from the turbo bearing or from the rings? See what other Audi owners are saying about the 2.7L V6 engine at Audiworld.com and Audizine.com. I'm active in the A6 sections of both forums.
