What else do I do

Asked by Michelle Dec 11, 2017 at 11:04 PM about the 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Okay so I have a 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer
edition the last couple weeks my battery light has
been coming on I took it to AutoZone to get it
tested they weren't sure which one needed to be
replaced they told me to replace them both I went
ahead and replace the battery first I drove it for a
couple of hours the next thing I know my
dashboard lights dimmed my ABS light came on
my traction light came on as well as I had no
celeration to my gas pedal right before I was able
to park it the lights went completely dark on the
dashboard I tried to start the truck back up it would
not start so the next thing I did was put an
alternator in I let it ran  but the battery light still
came on my truck is parked right now I think I'm
over charging the battery

It could also be your voltage regulator. You may want to have that checked at an Autozone or O'Reillys. The check should be free.

You don't say if they were installed by a proficient mechanic or a DIY'r. Is it possible the wires are not connected right?

Ok thank you I will check both and hopefully one of them will fix it some one also said to check the alt fuse

The battery and alternator was replaced so the problem is not there. I suggest you bring it to one of those parts stores who will check out the charging system while the vehicle is running.
