just changed timing components on 02 explorer 4.0. started for a second then
heard ting and it died. cranked a little more and it locked up. found the #5
spark plug must have hit piston or something, the tip was gone. turned engine
backward just a little by hand then forward but stops when #5 piston is up.

You'd have to get a scope to look into the cylinder threw the spark plug hole to see if you can get the piece out. Where they the wrong spark plugs? or where they just so bad it fell apart.
