4WD Indicator Lights

Question type: General

I am thinking about purchasing a 2002 Ford Explorer. I just test drove it today. There are three buttons for Auto 4WD, High 4WD and Low 4WD. But I don't get any indicator light when I push any of them. The guy selling it blew off the question saying the 4WD engages automatically as neede. But that wasn't my question. Should there be indicator lights when I push any or all of these buttons?

When you say it should go into that mode is that signified by a light. If not how would I know if it was on?
