2001 Ford Explorer xl- anti-theft light blinking. Won't start. Can't locate control box or valet switch. Ideas?

Have the key.  I was given vehicle used and prior owner does not remember key code.  Also, no fob.  I have looked behind and under everything I can find.  Help.

Try putting the key in the drivers door, lock it then unlock it and see if the car will start.
