The fuse didn't cause the check engine light. the reason they couldn't check the code is because of the dlc fuse being blown. It is commonly due to the front power point having a fault such as a coin or bad charger in it. replace the front power point fuse and the codes should be able to be checked.

And also do not know about your vehicle but most check engine lights are connected to the cigarette lighter fuse if it is blown or removed can not get codes.

Engine light was coming on and could not read codes as you stated. Changed fuse and the light is currently off. Not can read codes but shows no errors even though the engine light had been coming on and off for months.

I had my check engine light lit but could not check codes. I found the fuse blown for the cigarette lighter, replaced it, and found code P0306, cylinder #6 misfire. I cleared the code with my scanner and the code did not return. I sprayed water on coil #6 and its wiring, sprayed water on the other coils, and the check engine light remained off. I know P0306 can be caused by other reasons than a bad coil or wiring, so at this point I don't know whether the blown fuse and P0306 are correlated or a coincidence.
