ford escape 2006 brake light wont come on when pushing brake pedal and shiftier doesn't move

ford escape 2006. replaced bulbs on the top break light assembly
(disconnected battery before hand) reconnected battery and brake light wont
come on when pushing brake pedal and shiftier doesn't move when car is on.
Tried the old bulbs and still the same result.

Did you check your fuses? Other ideas are brake pedal switch or poor ground. There should be a small tab to reset interlock on shifter, owner's manual should have that info. Good Luck!

Checked and replaced all fuses concerning the breaking and shiftier system as well as replacing the keep alive fuse for shits and grins. Tested both break pedal switches and both are working fine. I have tried and succeeded in resetting the shift lock to no avail.
