our ford just burned up a transmission

Asked by Bradley Mar 28, 2017 at 09:00 PM about the 2006 Ford Escape XLT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the mechanic said its because of the transmission filter was plugged...weve had it serviced many times at ford...and never did anyone say it needed a new transmission filter...our mechanic also has two ford explorers with the same problem...all at around 150,000 miles.....WHY IS THIS???? does the public need to be aware of this problem??

Changing the transmission filter is standard procedure when you service the transmission. The filter might have been plugged up because the transmission was failing. How often did you have the ATF changed?
