My mechanic told me that I need a new front end crossmember. He gave me an estimate of $1100. He said most of it is labor because it would take approximately 8 hours. Is that true?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My brother a mechanic as well said he could do it cheaper. Is a crossmember
very expensive?

Being most of the estimate is labour, if your brother can do it for you and save you on labour, then there you go, I would take him to a pull-a-part or other junk yard and get one or a whole parts car from someone selling cheap, keep some of those extra parts for future repairs.
