I have a 2006 Ford escape 4 cylinder engine turns over doesn't start

Asked by Bearsurfs Nov 26, 2016 at 06:50 PM about the 2006 Ford Escape XLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can hear the fuel pump running when I turn the ignition on
so I sprayed ether into the throttle body an still didn't start
so fuel pump should be okay. When I flutter the peddle it
wants to start so I'm at a loss. I was thinking the iMac valve
but maybe it's a spark problem or a bad number 1 injector

If you spray fuel or starter fluid and don't get anything I'd say it's a spark issue. If it has spark it would start. But I would check the injectors as well as any valves for any leaks

I checked for spark and I was getting it so I tried the ether again and it fired up! I think when I changed the fuel filter there may have been some crap in the line. I'm going to check the fuel pressure next.
