Digital Dash replacement

When the car is cold, upon startup the digital dash blows a fuse and i have then I have no instruments. The shop told me I had to replace the instrument cluster and it had to be new one that they had to "program" to the car.  I know this would involve transfering the odometer info but what else?  Could I get a used digital cluster from a wreck yard and put it in myself?  They want nearly $700 parts/labor.  So, would a used cluster work??  thanks for any help.

yes a used cluster will work,it will have to be a 02 just like your car,I dont think the cluster is the problem,it wont blow a fuse,I feel their is a short in the key switch,I would start their.your local lock smith can change it for you.

Thanks Papa, I know it isn't really recommended but, I was thinking of seeing what happens with a slightly higher amp fuse. There isn't much else on that circuit so I don't think I'd be risking anything critical - it's only a 5A fuse there anyway. I suspect pulling the cluster might be (near certainty) a royal pain in the a$$.
