Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 93 ford bronco w/a 302. Currently
knocking. Looking for a new engine. Found a
96 bronco w/a 302. Are they compatiable?
And will I have trouble installing the engine?
Anything I need to change or lol or for with
the new engine? All answers are wanted and

The basic block is the same, you most likely will have to put all of the manifolds, distributor and brackets from the 93 and put them on the 96 cause the 96 will have all the OBD 2 system on it and the 93 is OBD1.

Other than that, I shouldn’t have too many surprises? I might be sounding dumb, can you tell me what OBD1/ODB2 are?

OBD 1 and OBD 2 are the engine management system, they started in the very late 70's and have had different systems right up to today's current OBD 2 system. The last full size Bronco was in 96 and it was the only one that has the OBD 2 system. I have had Broncos with both systems and the OBD 2 was much better that the OBD 1 as far as power and performance, the drawback was the computer controlled automatic transmission, I didn't like the way it was programmed for shift points..
