Air Mass Sensor Bad?

Asked by eicas Jan 18, 2007 at 11:17 PM about the 1994 Ford Thunderbird LX RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car started today to have very rough iddle. It smells very heavy like running to rich. The car even shuts off at times and wont start. The Mass Air Sensor was disconnected and the car runs a bit rough but still hesitates when the gas pedal is depressed. The sensor was cleaned with spray cleaner (electro contact cleaner) and did not help. The sensor was disconnected and is the only way to have the car run. No enine light has come on so no fault code could be read off the computer. Thanks in advance for any help.
