My Fiancé 05 Chevy Silverado 1500 won't start
My fiancé 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 won't start. When he
tries to start his truck it makes a clicking sound. He
replaced the starter, battery, fuse box, engination switch.
He is getting frustrated if anyone can help him figuring out
what might be wrong with his truck it would be greatly
Charge the battery. If you have no charger, use jumper cable connected to a running car. I've bought batteries that had no charge whatsoever from the store. The click sounds is typical of a solenoid (switch mounted to the started) which is getting enough to try to crank, but when the started draws current, the system voltage drops below 9 volts. The clicking should be rapid, like 5-15 clicks per second. If it is, charge that weak battery!
Thank you kmcgmc. My fiancé is charging his battery right now. Hope this helps his issue.
A multimeter includes a voltmeter to measure your voltage. It's a great tool to have around, and a cheap version can be had for $10 at Harbor Freight. If one person measures the voltage when the other person turns the key, it is easy to tell if the battery is maintaining 12 volts, or falling on it's face. If that sounds complicated, maybe just buy a battery tester which simplifies the process.
Body and Frame ground wire I ran into the same problem today on 13 I dragged it back to the shop pulled starter done all that nothing seemed to work so I'm going to try to ground wire tomorrow
I don't understand, these things have computers and instruments that you can connect and it will diagnose your problem or problems. He could have saved some money by taking it to a garage and if they can't figure it out, you need to find a better mechanic or honest one.
