Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I have a 05 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3l and just
today it started to die out and I have no check
engine light on, but I did notice my fuel gauge
hasn't moved witch isn't normal considering I drive
40 miles to work everyday... any ideas on what it
is?

Probably something with the sending unit in the gas tank. Is it possible you are running out of gas? When you know you have gas in the tank does it do the same thing? The wiring should be looked at back at the sending unit. Probably would be a lot easier to take it to a shop to be looked at in-case the gas tank needs to come down.

I don't know if the 05's have the same problem as previous Silverado's. They have had a problem with instrument cluster and you will lose your gauge's. They are easy. On my 03 it was 4 screws, pull out, disconnect the wire connection and it comes right out. They come in various prices and there is a core charge so you have to return the old one. That is the best I can give after all the research I did when my gauges start to go out. But if you have gas and it dies you have a different problem. Put it on a scope.
