My friend had similar problem but older model 1997. I was a mechanic many years ago and he new nothing about a/c. Went thru it , I didn't have my gauges anymore, but decided to see if would fluid. We had to hot wire the compressor to pump, but it finally kicked on and stayed on. It work great for a few days and then not. On a road trip we figured it out. It quit and looked over everything again and even though check it before, there was a bad wire connection at the compressor. There was just enough play it would move just enough to get no juice. I had a problem similar to with ignition, every time you check for juice it would be there, vehicle would stop and check on juice all there, and it would start. Wire burnt in two and but the insulation was still there, took me a month to figure it out. Pull wire connectors and look real close in can real tiny. But if your a/c stops on a bump you have a loose elec connection. Check them all. Also hope you have manual and the fuse panels still have their labels.
