2003 Silverado fuel pump won't engage
I have an 03 Silverado and the fuel pump won't kick
on when you turn the key on. It's an old truck with a
few problems so I didn't hesitate to throw parts at
it initially. It has a new starter, a new fuel pump,
new fuel filter, and a new pcm. I had it to the point
where it would start but would not continue to run
after maybe 30 seconds. After 30 seconds it would
choke out and die. Now this morning I'm back to
square one and the fuel pump won't kick on at all
again. I don't actually even know where to go from
here. I can jump the fuel pump from the prime
terminal but it won't keep running on its own.
Would the fuel pressure regulator have any affect
on this? Would it be an ignition issue?
Yes the fuel regulator could, check the fuel pressure when you get the fuel pump to work, it should be 56 to 63 lbs. So try the fuel pump relay to start, check for power back at the plugin at the sending unit, it may be there is a problem with the sending unit.
