Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So awhile ago my ranger was making a ticking sound
but I just left it then one day it just totally shut off and
now it refuses to start it will only click.. i have tried
jumping it and everything and it will only click.. it acts

wrong with it?

Not sure what the ticking sound was, but it might have been the alternator. The clicking while trying to start could be a defective starter or solenoid, or a bad battery, and the battery might have gone bad because the alternator hasn't been charging it properly. Jump start the car properly; leave donor hooked up long enough to charge your battery, at least ten minutes. If your car starts, fine. If it does not start, replace your battery. After that, have the alternator checked; you'll probably have to replace that too.
