01 Chevy Silverado extended cab 5.3 L Vortec V8
155000 miles new battery AC heat power windows
locks all options including towing package however
truck needs a little work been sitting up 6 months
bought new fuel filter and fuel pump don't know if
it's connected right sometimes starts sometimes
won't

Your best bet is get a repair manual and follow all the steps for a fuel pump installation. Autozone's web site has some repair guides online, you'd have to check on their site. Your local library may also have manuals, as well as access to the ARRC online subscription guides. You can also borrow or rent tools from most parts stores, such as a fuel pressure gauge, and use that to check what your fuel pressure is (instead of guessing). If you've had this truck for a while, and plan on keeping it, get a repair manual for it. Then your DIY projects will be much easier.
