Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We've replaced all 4 calipers, brake pads,
new lines a year ago and the brakes still
when going to stop slowly give in, and you
can hear the the front brakes give in and
you have to let off brake and re-apply to
stop, any suggestions?

"give in" I consider this to mean the pedal slowly goes to the floor?and you must press it again to stop. NEEDS a Master cylinder change or booster. Do this check procedure FIRST: BRAKE BOOSTER INSPECTION Functional test: 1. With the engine stopped, Depress the brake pedal several times, then depress the pedal hard and hold that pressure for 15 seconds. If the pedal sinks, the master cylinder, brake line or a brake caliper is faulty 2. Start the engine with the pedal depressed. If the pedal sinks slightly, the vacuum booster is working. If the pedal height does not vary, the booster or the check valve is faulty Leak Test: 1. Depress the brake pedal with the engine running then stop the engine. If the pedal height does not vary while depressed for 30 seconds, the vacuum booster is OK. If the pedal rises, the booster is faulty 2. With the engine stopped, depress the brake pedal several times using normal pressure. When the pedal is first depressed, it should be low. On consecutive applications, the pedal height should gradually rise. If the pedal position does not vary, check the booster check valve. Check valve test: 1. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose at the booster. 2. Start the engine and let it idle. There should be a vacuum available. If no vacuum is available, the check valve is not working correctly. Replace the check valve and retest. END TEST AND TAKE YOURSELF TO LUNCH you just saved Labor: $122 - $155 for testing (only) Regards

Could you help me out with my Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 I was driving it for the first long run in it today and after every 50 miles or so the brakes would just completely lock up on me and I made sure it was full of fluid and as well make sure the brake drums and brake pads were good which it all looks to be good from the outside I haven't been inside the tires yet because it's just happening but I just bought this truck and like I said everything's brand new so what could that possibly be do you think it would be the pump or something to do with the pressure in the lines?
