I have transmission fluid leaking from a universal joint on my 1985 C10 350 Silverado.. What will happen if I don't have this fixed?
REAR TAIL SHAFT SEAL........5 DOLLAR PART EASY TO FIX
There is no way that a u-joint can be leaking tranny fluid, they are sealed so it must be an external leak, if it is the yoke that is leaking through the plug on the inside you need to replace the yoke or have it professionally resealed, plus Kelly might also have a good point that it is just the tranny output seal and the fluid is slinging off the outside of the yoke. If you do not fix this the tranny will run low on fluid and quit working, not to mention the oil mess on the underside of your rig and spots of oil everywhere you park.
If the trans fluid level gets too low your transmission may die.
