no power to my red power line in the radio harness

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1999 1500 Chevy Silverado 2wd 4.3

I have lost power only in the red power line in my radio harness. No voltage on my multi meter, but i have power in the yellow line. Is there an inexpensive way to fix it?

I also think it shorted out my radio because i can not get it to come back on.
I tested on 2 different radios and 2 new harnesses, and got one to come on when i hot wired it to directly to the fuse box. I think the other radio was shorted out.

First of all,the yellow wire is a memory wire,it stays hot all the time, the red wire is a hot lead direct by fuse and iginition. If your key was not on when you checked it there will be no fire on it.Key has to be turned on to activate red wire.If that does not fix problem you have a blowed fuse.
