Transmission slipping

Asked by Apr 07, 2017 at 10:38 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Transmission fluid is burnt...Was told if I flushed it
out it would make it worse or freeze it up...It shifts
really hard from second to third gear once the car
is heated up..

Well if you can live with the shift issue, then let it be. If you want it fixed, you can try the cheaper route and have the fluid drained and replace the filter and fluid. No guarantees it will fix the shifting issue. If not ,then your looking at having your local trans shop diagnose the issue and repair.

also that will give you the chance of looking at the inside bottom of pan for any metal.some is ok..so service it..you can even put in type F fluid..its a better fluid han the dex2..and while your at it add some LUCAS TRANS ADDITIVE..theres a good chanch it will be ok

Lucas transmission fix is worth a try since you are looking at several thousand for a rebuilt transmission.
