Hubby's work van

Asked by Jun 02, 2017 at 08:46 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Express Cargo G3500 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My hubby's work van has been having problems
with the brake lights not working. They sent it to a
mechanic. It got fixed then a week later they went
out again. They put another brake switch on. That
one lasted a 3 days.  And it's out again. What else
can it be? Thanks for any help.

If the high mount stop light is working but the two outboard lights keep going out, I'd suspect the turn signal switch. The high mount stop light is wired directly to the brake light switch. But the outboard lights pass through the turn signal switch. Try wiggling and jiggling the turn signal lever with your foot on the brake pedal. If the lights come on, there's your problem. HTH. -Jim
