Serpentine belt slip 1995 Chevy van

Asked by GuruCL5JT Feb 18, 2019 at 05:04 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet Chevy Van G20 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I finally got this damn serpentine belt
on and it slipped off. Hoping someone can
tell by the photo if a pulley or some other
part might be missing?
The upper right pulley is what concerns me
because there's no tread, looks like it's too
small to catch, like a part fell off?

Looks like the wheel come off belt tensioner. You can look at belt tensioner, rockauto.com, an online parts book. That tensioner doesn't look right, to me.

Also I can't figure out which is the tensioner, or if it's just stuck? I got it on the a crowbar this last time and it felt snug. Ran it for a couple mi to test it and then this morning it slipped after 10 seconds.

Thanks so much y'all. So replace the whole unit? Can I just replace the tensioner pulley or do I need to buy the whole Assembly?

Yeah they weren't shipping to California so I just picked up the pulley in town. I'm on a limited budget so just wondering why I'd need to replace the arm too.

I just meant look at the picture as a reference. You don't have to buy anything from them. Hey, if the tension is ok and you can get just the pulley wheel, itself, great. have a good day.
