Plugging run flat tires

I know run flats can go 200 miles @ 50 MPH, but can a plug work in a nail whole? I got two nails recently and we plugged the wholes. So far its holding, but some say i should replace the tire right away; especially if you do highway driving?  Any comments?

I have an 06 Coupe, my right front had a nail, I did plugged the tire, however my sensor kept coming on, for low pressure, so I end up, patching it, so in the long run you may have to.

If the plugged tire is holding air, leave well-enough alone. If you notice that it is loosing PSI, then replacing it is the only option left.
