Tire pressure

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This doesn't sound right to me, but i want to pass it on. I had two new tires replaced on my vette. The Chevy service dept and i were talking about the air pressure in the tires and they told me not to put in or remove air myself. They said the air pressure sensors were very sensitrive and that I should have the dealer do it. I have never heard of this recommendation; has anyone? Paul

Sounds like BS to me, the sensors have to deal with the rotational forces they experience when moving, the slight change in air pressure shouldn't affect them. That being said they do go out of whack occasionally and need to be recalibrated but that only needs to be done occasionally.
