The Airbag light is on - Ford Escort LX Wagon 94

The light of the Airbag is on in our old Ford Escort 94 LX Wagon 1.9. This happened suddently, no explanation of cause. I'm not sure what to do or check. Or if I have to be worried that the airbag might deploy.
Please any advise. - Thanks so much.

unhook the neg side of battery for a few minutes,rehook,the light should go out,if it stays out dont worrie about it,if it comes back on have it checked,i would check and see if one of the plugins have came out.

under your seat or at the side of it there is a yellow plug or it might be black undo plug spray with wd 40 or similar with ignition off let it dry then plug back in light should go off this happened on a couple of my escorts hope this helps
