Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Every time I accelerate and get between 40-50mph the car shakes really bad I can see the car seat move from side to side, and only stops when get a steady speed or let off the gas pedal. I have put brand new tires on and had them rotated. Do you think it could be my tune up?

Are there any warning lights on or Flashing? The replacement tires....were they Balanced? How many miles on these tires? Mileage on this vehicle? Sounds like one or more CVS joints are going bad.

Yes my maintance light is on. I am getting a tune up tomorrow. I just had all the tires replaced at walmart in feb 2017. They are soft. Mileage is below 200,000. It only happens during acceleration between 40 and 50mph. What are cvs joints? This is my first car.

Cv....constant velocity joints are on the front axle of this vehicle. Considering the mileage....definitely should be checked. You might consider referring to the Owners Manual....for an explanation of that maintenance light. Keep us up to date concerning this interesting issue.

The diagnosis starts with a road test. Drive this vehicle at the speed which creates the vibration at its worst. Carefully place the vehicle in Neutral gear. Does the vibration change....or....go away? Next..the vehicle goes up on a car lift for inspection of ...wheels and tires...axles and CV joints...motor and transmission mounts. The wheels and tires are then removed and place on a Wheel Balancer and checked for out of balance and wheel tire Run out. This approach usually is successful in finding the root cause of the issue. If the vibration goes away at 40 mph and in neutral.....you have an engine....transmission problem. Get back with results.
