will a 60 series tire fit on a 59 corvette without any problems?

Question type: Car Customization

I currently have 225/70 15's on my 59 vet. I would like to put on a tire that is not as tall and narrow. I was thinking about 235,245 or 255 60 15's on the back and some 60 or 70 series on the front. I just don't know what would fit with any problems.I was wondering if you could help.       Thanks

Hi Chris ... I don't know but I can refer you to someone who does. Check out Ecklers for your Vette tires and questions about them. They offer some great tire reproductions as well. Here's a link to their pages on Vette tires. (http://www.ecklers.com/dept.asp?dept_id=261&level=2). Here's a fact sheet on your 1959 that may be helpful and/or fun: http://www.idavette.net/facts/59.htm. And here's another worth visiting: http://www.100megsfree4.com/corvette/1950/vet59.htm . Good luck and have fun!

I have a 59 vette that I have had for 46 years and am completing its second restoration. I put G7015 bias ply tires on it years ago and found them to be a good fit but not allowing much more tire on the front or back because of clearances. I am putting the equivalent radial tires on it this time around and the wider fotprint (just over 6 inches) and origianl white wall look fantastic. Can't wait to drive it again this spring.
