Elgin is a good brand name. You have to inspect the cam shaft to see if it good or not.

Are you having problems with the cam? How long has the cam been in the engine? Remember cams are soft metal and can wear down over long periods of time and faster if the engine had debris in the oil. Or is you question about the make of cam itself? If it works as rated, yes it is a good cam. If you think you need a more souped up cam, than it is good but not what you want.
