1995 Ford ranger one click won't start.

Asked by Matthew Mar 25, 2018 at 05:54 PM about the 1995 Ford Ranger XLT Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 Ford ranger, I
recently had to put in a new
fuel pump and fuel filler hose.
After, I had to boost of the
battery cause it was dead.
When I let it charge enough, I
tried to start it, and it just
clicks once. I know
sometimes it can be the
battery that does it, so I left it
on the cables for a long
time.still nothing. Was told to
try and by pass the solenoid,
so tryed that, still just one
click. Won't roll off or
anything. Any help would be
appreciated. Also, checked
the solenoid and it was loose
and missing bolts like
someone has messed with it.
Could it be a loose
connection? Really need this
thing running, already lost a
job because of it.

Verify batter is good with a load test. One weak cell can cause all sorts of trouble. Yes, check all your connections and make sure they are corrosion free. Wire brush what you can and tighten everything up.
