my '05 CR-V has malfunction in rear window defogger

Asked by ELauber Jan 03, 2015 at 02:22 AM about the 2005 Honda CR-V LX AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

on/off Switch lights up when pressed.  Solenoid recently replaced, fuse good.  Heated side
mirrors get very warm, > 90 DegF.  Have 12V power and ~0.7A at rear defogger leads.
Terminals on glass at both ends are good.  Darn thing won't heat up at all, having trouble
seeing through rear window when snowing.

Most of the problems with defrosters are 'opens,' breaks in the continuity of the grid. They do make kits available at auto parts stores for patching the grid. You seem to have done all the proper troubleshooting, eliminating lack of power as a cause. Check the grid itself with an ohmmeter, you will most likely find a break. Good luck!
