89 camaro won't start

I got a 89 camaro rs 2.8l and it won't start I have
checked everything I can think of until I found this
thing I'll put a picture in here its right under the coil
and I don't know what it is and what it does or how
to hook it up any help would be appreciated thanks

Yea I'm working on it please keep in mind I'm only 17 so I don't know everything lol buy I'm tryin and it's weird because there's another coil that was on there right about my hand so I switched but I need a new battery now so I'll update as soon as I get one which will be here shortly
