Check engine and engine protect light comes on engine will run then shuts off . engine will not stay running .

I suspect your engine management computer has detected something out of whack and continuing to run the engine may ruin it. I would check the oil and coolant levels. See if that diesel's catalytic is overdue to be serviced. The "five minutes idle to shut down" timer might be wrong. Turn on the cruise control and set it while idling. Just guessing. Get dealer to scan for codes. I was lucky to retire before all these computerized trucks hit the road.

I have a2002 Freightliner engineprotect light comes on every now and then but has not shut off yet not sure what it may be is ecm going out have not driven truck far do you have any ideals

That's a $10,000 engine so it may be a good idea to have the dealer scan for codes and look things over. It may be something simple to fix. It's an awful feeling to own/drive a truck you can't trust to get you home without an expensive breakdown and repair.

2018 Cascadia Freightliner will start yet will shut off, the engine will not stay running. The check engine and the engine protect comes on, then soon, the engine will shut off. Freightliner was the number one reason for bankruptcy , stay away from freaking trucking or becoming OO or lease operator

My just happened and temperature was high and the engine super cool it was the antifreeze, the tank was empty and I put some water and the light went off and the temperature down it’s a freighliner too
