Fuel .

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After changing and cleaning these items I
am still having an issue with the fuel in my
beetle. Spark plugs and wires. Fuel pump
and it's gaskets. Cap and button. Lines clear.
Fuel is in the fuel filter.. Tomorrow I am
planning on cleaning the tank out. If any
suggestions on how to clean the tank in the
car, please don't hesitate to let me know the
easy way I could do this. And what else
should I do. I'm like Dee, I can ride around
the block a few times and it is great. I just
know I am going to be able to take that road
trip, but lordy mercy, stopped again.. I just
got this car on Sy.Patrick's Day. It's a
Daytona Migi. 52 body. 69 beetle motor.
Please help. I'm a Jill of all trades. I'm just
stick on this one. HELP a chic will ya. My
hands need to be on the steering wheel not
in the grease.

it all depends who sees the questions :P i jsut saw it cause it was a day late into my daily mail. Any ways so a 69 beetle huh. If you cleaned out all the fuel system then your likely culprit for an issue is your carburetor. It is most likely in need of a good cleaning and a rebuild. If the fuel bell does not have anything bad looking init then your fuel tank is not the issue as long as there is fuel in the tank a fuel tank should not get rusty or get crap in it. Those old beetles pretty much was just fuel, air and spark and if they sat around for a long period of time the carburetors would get all gummy. you can either order a rebuilt one or get yours rebuilt which would take longer to get back.
