History of sports car 1939

In 1939 a Peter Brockelhurst from the United Kingdom purchased a sports car from the Mercedes plant in Germany.
This car has a fascinating history of which I am trying to put together.
It was the 1st sports car to come off the production line in 1939.
I would be extremely grateful if anyone could help me with this question.
