how do taxes and registration get paid buying a used car from a dealership?

They collect the taxes from you at the time of sale whether you pay them in cash or you finance it, and the state takes that money out of their business account at the end of the month. They also apply for the title in your name and register the car in your name. The state makes them do all that because they know most people won't do it on their own.
