Vehicle shaking

I have a 2004 jeep laredo 149000 miles. Whenever
I hit a bump in speed, car shakes violently. It feels
as if the wheels want to fall off. I currently only
drive locally because I feel unsafe. What could this
be? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Ok...thank you. I did get the steering dampener done before. Some one else was saying the ball joints as well, and the springs. Thank you for the feedback, it's appreciated.
